Responding to the Government review of PIP

The Government is reviewing Personal Independence Payment (PIP). If you have experience of PIP, you can shape its future by sharing your experiences and views.

What does the review of PIP cover?

The review is wide-ranging. It’s looking at how PIP assessments work, how evidence is collected and judged, how decisions are made and whether parts of the system need to change. It’s not just about paperwork – it’s about how the system affects Disabled people’s lives.

Who can take part?

Anyone with experience of PIP can ‘submit evidence’ to the review. That includes carers.

How do I take part?

There are three ways to send your evidence: by email, by post or directly via the Government survey link. The choice is yours. Because there are some concerns about bias in parts of the survey wording, you may prefer to respond by post or email so you can do it in your own way.

What should I include in my response?

You don’t have to be 'perfect’ – what matters is what you want to say.

You could include:

  • How PIP helps you (or the person you care for) in daily life
  • Problems with assessments, evidence, or decisions
  • Stress, delays, or harm caused by the process
  • Why PIP matters to you
  • What would make the system fairer or easier.

Be clear and practical – mixing personal experience with clear points.

When is the deadline?

The deadline for submissions is 28 May.

Why is it important to respond?

The review is the main way future changes to PIP could be decided, which makes it very important.

Over 10,000 people have already submitted evidence. The more people who respond, the harder it is for the Government to ignore Disabled people’s reality.
